Leaders emphasize soft skills, managers emphasize hard skills and managerial leaders emphasize conceptual skills. They adopt autocratic, democratic or delegative leadership as the situation requires and can shift from leader to manager and vice versa.
Leadership means different things to different people, and leadership requires different things from different people at different points in time. The fact is leaders come in many different flavors. The good news is leadership isn’t nearly as complex as many make it out to be. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a leader, we all need to take a step back and review the basic fundamentals of leadership from time-to-time.
